With more than 35 years of hospitality experience, innkeeper Mariah Macfarlane has returned to her roots. After waiting tables as a young actress in New York, studying at the Ritz Escoffier in France, and serving as private chef in wonderful places like Fishers Island, Aspen, and Jackson Hole, she’s thrilled to find her place at Hill Farm. The diversity and depth of her hospitality experience has shaped her into a warm and graceful host; a perfect match for the inn. “I came home to Vermont seven years ago because I missed it. I feel connected to the people here and their active participation in the place that they live. I missed my beautiful seasons…the quiet hush of snowy days, the lush greens of spring and summer, the outrageous foliage. My parents met in Vermont and I was born here, what luck!” And another fine bit of luck brought the Pollards to Cafe Mamie in August of 2013, where they were impressed by the capable and accommodating chef. The rest, as they say, is history! On behalf of Chef Mariah and the entire Hill Farm family, we look forward to welcoming you and yours to this inn.
