Hill Farm Welcomes the 2026 Fly-Fishing Season in Southern Vermont
Spring is in the air and fly-fishing season has begun!
There’s something about the start of fly-fishing season in Southern Vermont that feels less like a date on a calendar and more like a collective cheer. The Battenkill comes alive, the waders come out of storage, and the people who care most deeply about this river and this tradition find their way back to one another.
On April 13th, Hill Farm, an Orvis-endorsed Fly Fishing Lodge located on the banks of the Battenkill River, had the privilege of hosting an inaugural season-opening event with many of Southern Vermont's most passionate fly-fishing community members. Organized by Brew Moscarello of Trico Unlimited, the evening brought together representatives from Trout Unlimited, The Orvis Company, and The American Museum of Fly Fishing for good conversation, craft pizzas, Vermont beers, and the kind of energy that only comes from people who genuinely love what they do. The evening featured remarks from some of Vermont’s most respected voices - Marty Oakland, Pete Kutzer, and Brew Moscarello - each offering thoughts on the season ahead.
The Battenkill has a way of rewarding those who tend to it with care, and this community does exactly that. Here's to a bountiful 2026 season on the river!
